Colourful underwear becoming lockdown fashion accessory?

Ever since we stopped dressing up for work and meeting friends for a drink, coffee or special occasion, lots of us have neglected our fashion choices. So much so that many of us have resorted to wearing tracksuit bottoms every day – even Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour!

While the image of the fashion guru in trackies on Instagram shocked the world, it sends a clear message that we have lost interest in choosing a nice pair of trousers or skirt to wear. Or checking if our shirt is trendy. Or even clean.

TV presenter-cum-fashion designer Alexa Chung even wrote to her social media followers: “Hands up if you remembered to shower and get dressed today.” This clearly resonated with her fans, as the post went on to receive over 85,000 likes, including from movie star Jennifer Anniston.

In the meantime, we have developed a growing interest in our underwear. Indeed, many of us feel that picking a pair of colourful boxers, trunks, or briefs to put on first thing in the morning can really cheer us up, even if no-one else is around to see them.

An article in the Independent stated: “It’s a dismal time in most respects, sure, but a really exciting time where your second drawer down is concerned. The underwear-as-outerwear trend, one of fashion’s most elusive legends, is finally playing out for real.”

Instead of opting for plain white, black or grey choices, people are enjoying being a bit bolder, as it is a “cheery way to punctuate the meh”

We couldn't agree more! Our brightly-coloured designer boxer-briefs will certainly put a spring in your step during these difficult and monotonous days in Lockdown.
